Vacation part III - May celebrations

The traditions are still alive. This is a 'May tree', tall and straight, stripped of branches, the top is decorated with ribbons and such. The original tradition was that on the 1st of May a boy made 'May tree' for the girl he wanted to propose, but nowadays there's usually only one tree per village as a symbol of spring and love perhaps.

Aha Maj...

There usually is a street fair somewhere around 'May tree' too, I had cotton candy...
Okolo Maja boli hody, kde som si dala cukrovu vatu...

kofola, coke-like drink...
kofolu...

one vendor was selling really cute animals made from natural materials...
predavali tam taketok zvieratka z prirodnych materialov...

and we bought this cute hedgehog
a tohto jezka sme si aj zakupili

The fair wasn't crowded... :)
Nebolo tam vela ludi veru :)

but I looove these lollipops, I had to buy them! (they were actually the reason why we went, I had to have the lollipops)
a mnam, moje oblubene lizatka (preto sme vlastne sli, lebo som velmi chcela take lizatka, a to mavaju len na hodoch zvycajne)
